U.S Grant was a politician and a General in the Civil War. He fought in hard and long battles and managed to win almost every time. He became one of the greatest heroes of in the Civil War. After the Civil War he became extremely popular. He even ran for president and won to become the 18th president of the U.S. His time in office was marked by many different scandals. He was never engrossed in one himself but many of the people that worked for him were. Some of this people were crooks and eventually stole from the government. There were two major scandals that hurt him the most and they were the Black Friday Scandal, and the Credit Mobilier Scandal. The Black Friday Scandal was about the collapse of the U.S gold market. The Credit Mobilier was about the Continental Railroad. With all the problems Grant struggled through as a president he managed to do some positive things like passing the 15th amendment. Grant would later die of tongue and tonsils cancer. He died on July 23,1885 in Mount McGregor, New York.
